you never know there may be Fake Reviews.
Let me explain. Knowing Pret and especially the HR department (having exhausted it!) with their tricks, and knowing the CEO with all the mistreatment they’ve put me through (written evidence upon request), this review is a beautiful example of how Pret tricks their way into your pockets.
I agree with the good benefits & pay (in management levels, yes, but that’s about it, for team members on the shop floor and in the kitchens it is hell).
I am intrigued what this reviewer means with, “I specifically enjoy the affective [emotional!] labour that Pret draws out from all staff” …
(“draws out” mind you, versus driving people to their breaking point!)
“Initially it was burdensome, but then the enjoyment of working there became real” (I really chuckled at this one here! 😀 ).
First of all, the reviewer “specifically” enjoys the affective labour Pret “draws” out of them. Now, unless they are masochistic, I don’t know what’s so enjoyable!
And what exactly “became real”? This is such a bad try of a fake review, it is funny. The wording of ” burdensome”, really cute!
I have my guess who wrote this one! Very clever @ HR. Wash DC, wash!
Let’s pick this apart with some of the other reviews, shall we!
Looking at this one for example:
“Excellent” review – versus – “Slave” review:
Excellent: “I specifically enjoy the affective [emotional!] labour that Pret draws out from all staff” (all staff!)
Slave: “Very bad management. They treat you like a slave. You have zero value to them. They don’t recognize your effort. …”
Excellent: “Initially it was burdensome, but then the enjoyment of working there became real.”
Slave: “Forced to work without pay, expected to work during annual holiday, pressure on profit leading… bullying tactics used by Heads, unfair salaries, discrimination…….”
Tired to go on. Pret will come up with “numbers”, with results of annual questionnaires that are manipulated.
Annual questionnaires that are tweaked. I know, because I raised a grievance when my shop had 100% participation, even though I didn’t participate!
